The chemical plant in Palos de la Frontera, located in Huelva, Spain, is a modern and technologically advanced facility. It is a benchmark in the industrial sector and an example of an integrated chemical plant, producing cumene, phenol, and acetone.
Our plant in Palos de la Frontera has certified its sustainable production through the use of renewable energy under an in-house standard endorsed by AENOR: the Low Carbon certification.
The facility is also powered by 100% renewable electricity.
Moreover, it was the first facility of its kind in Europe to have a liquid effluent treatment plant dedicated to phenol.
Thanks to its proximity to port terminals, it has become one of the best-connected industrial centers in Europe.
Currently, Moeve is building Spain's first isopropyl alcohol (IPA) plant at these facilities, which is scheduled to start up in 2026. IPA is an essential component in the formulation of disinfectant gels, which are widely used in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

First phenol plant to combine the manufacture of ISCC Plus-certified products with the use of renewable energy (in-house Low Carbon certification). Thanks to this, we can offer products like NextPhenol-R-Low Carbon, which have the same properties as the fossil fuel equivalent but with a lower carbon footprint.
