Ethoxylated alcohols
They are obtained through an advanced process of ethoxylation of fatty alcohols, incorporating different ethylene oxide units (EO) to an aliphatic chain. Its solubility depends directly on the average number of moles of EO: the greater the number, the greater the solubility in water.
With fewer EO units: they are mainly used as intermediates in the production of alcohol ethoxy sulfates.
With a higher EO number: due to their high solubility, they are used as non-ionic surfactants.
